Crash problem in text Messaging on Nokia 6630

I got this strange problem on my 6630 , as far as i noticed it only starts to happens after making a backup on the PC. For the first time i thought it could be some program that i've installed , but removing the memory card or unistalling all software didd the same, so i used the format code *#7370# that will put your phone as it was from the factory, again aftar it no problems, no app's instaled , after getting it conected to the PC and make a Backup (even the backups where made in different PC's) whent back to the same.

The problem is that writing a message or adding a contact with T9 dictionary on if you try to put more than one ! in a row like !!!!!!! on the second ! the phone hangs and does not do a thing, you have to turn it off and back on againg. Ill try some other thing again to check if i discover what the heck is the problem that i suspect to be some thing the backup program intalls (latest Nokia Data Suite 6.6), netxt if it does the same ill get and exchage the phone for a new one, if it does the same thing again i know that it's a software bug and maybe it will be only solved either by a firmware upgrade (if the bug it from the start on the phone) or by a datasuit version (ill try also try the original version that came with the phone)

I think the problem is in your backup files not your phone, its not a known bug on the phone.... Just format your phone and dont load your backup file to your phone again.

samtech i've got the same problem as you since the fone was new without any backup or app installed, so i thing that's some kind of issue related to phone's software version...
mine is 3.45.113 (04-01-05) (nokia version, not vodafone or any other operator version)what's yours?
when i bought the phone it has vodafone software but i went to a Nokia service point and asked for them to put a factory version of the software.did you asked this too?

Hi , i Have the version 2.39.15 (11-11-04) RM-1, i went to the vodafone store and they exchanged the phone and the new one came with the same problem, tried in another frien that has one and again the same problem, seams to be a Bug , that has not been solved, and it's not backup or anything related , before i formated the phone without any thing in it , includind the card and the same thing, i gess that it has to be told to Nokia about the bug , if they have'nt discovered it yet!!!!
Is there any newer SW version than yours ??, by the way , in the nokia service center . they normaly put the vendor version , not the standard version, if your from portugal as i think , did you go to the Areeiro center ??
Off course that with that version the phone remains loked to vodafone isn't it ??

well, in fact, i am!
i went to Coimbra Nokia center and they asked wich version i desired (but i'm not a good example since i know the guy:P ) of course u can try to ask them the standard version cause i hate all that vodafone crap in the software (not vodafone at all, indeed i think vodafone is the best operator in portugal, maybe europe).
i noticed that but a few days after i bought my 6630 (01/2005)but i didn't posted anything about it because i don't really care of this, all software have the right to hava any bug didn't they? lol but yes, it's a good idea to report it to nokia even if i doubt that they didn't know it yet.

Bem que eles mudam mt's de cenas no software é verdade, mas duvido que no centro Nokia do Areeiro me metam uma verssão Standard, epá mesmo com o lock de operador não sei se o fazem, com u 3650 que tenho não o fizeeram e estava desbloqueado de origem , mas da TMN.

Well it was By the name :D

The operators change lot's of stuff in the software, but i realy doubt that at the nokia Center thay do tha for me, even if i say them that ths operatos lock is to keep, with my 3650 thay did't did it, even it was unlocked form the start.

Hi. I got a 6630 over from france and all works well, details r 2.39.15 (11-11-04) RM-1.

Only problems are it tends to reset itself, especially while in the middle of messaging and if i'm in a new message, when i go to use the return key (0, 3 times) if i press right on the nav key before it finishes it deletes my message and goes back to the standby screen!!
has anyone else had this problem?
