D500 Unlock and flash

Bought a cable from AllGSM a couple of months ago and have now tried to unlock and flash two d500's with absolutely no results :-(
In win imei both versions it just says failed in reading imei.

Which would you say is the the problem:

The cable? or
The xp operating system? (Am running xp pro sp1)

Have tried all combinations now and am really frustrated.

Both phones were different firmware and one nov 2004 the other feb 2005 dated.

Also when would you ever use the D500E option on winimei?

Hello mate,

No problem with using xp or 2000 even with service pack 2!!

You need to use a D500 external 9v serial cable!! This is a com port type of cable!!
