Orange UK 3310 Unlock Problem

I downloaded the nokia code calculator from here and have tried to unlock a 3310 orange uk phone. I got the codes:
Model: Nokia DCT3
Network: 23433
#pw+9163141642+1#
#pw+3340406248+2#

Now whenever I enter the first code it says code error (something similar). When I entered the second one it said Restrictions Off (something similar). I then tried putting my o2 UK (contract) sim in there and that works fine.

However when I put in a virgin UK (pay as you go) sim in the phone it says Sim not allowed (something similar).

Anyone know why it will allow one and not the other?

Your first code failed, your phone is not unlocked !!

you are unsure of the message you got for the second code, doesn't matter, it was probably not locked at that level
If really you got a message "restriction off" with the code 2, you made a typing error for the first one.

The message I got for code 2 definately was "sim not restricted [tick]" and I am sure I didnt make an error with the first code as I have entered it more than once. I still keep getting code error for the first one.

"sim not restrited" the code 2 you tried had not effect whatever it was wrong or right, thus wrong in that case since code 1 is wrong too

you need to find a good code 1 and only it.
your mistake is with the network, 23433 is for Orange and your phone is locked on O2 (23410).

I am pretty sure the phone is locked to Orange has it has an Orange logo on the fascia. I was just trying my O2 contract sim to see if it had unlocked.

It turns out it was an O2 branded phone but the fascia was from Orange. Confusing !:D But now its unlocked. Thanks for you help!

You have said your phone accepted O2 SIM card, obviously it was lockd to O2 !

have the same problem, its is locked to virgin everytime i try to put the 1st code in it says code error, and the second says restriction off. any help?

Are sure of the network it is locked to ?
try a SIM card of this network
Otherwise if really the second code gave the message "restriction off" it looks like a mistake in entereing the code one
