Unlock Nokia N70

I dont suppose anyone has any information on how to unlock N70's? Its probably the same old story that goes on with 6630-6680 nokias; but it doesnt hurt asking...

Well, you are the first person that posts something about the new N series. I really don't know which technology are they using, but since N series are newer than 6630&6680, I guess they are also using BB5.

I can't tell by facts because N series have not yet arrived to my country (neither 6630&6680 series). But I would bet that it's the same issue.

Anyways, if someone has more info, please post.

i found on the web somewhere about someone claiming to have a program that cracked BB5 codes; the ones used to sim lock 6630/6680. I contacted him and this is the reply I got:

Concerning the program I have, I used it to unlock my Nokia 6680, and it unlocked it. I don’t know about your Nokia N70. I have attached a picture of how the program looks, if you would like to see. There is no demo version, since it is a single, fully functional program. The price of the software is $20. As soon as I receive your payment, I will send the program to you, to try unlock your Nokia N70. Maybe it will work for the N70 too! All you will need is the Nokia USB cable, which originally came with the phone, if you do not have it. If you require any help with the unlocking, do not hesitate to ask me.

Any thoughts on this?

Well there are a lot of persons who are claiming that are able to unlock BB5 handsets... indeed I doubt they can (most of them are selling faked codes). Any newbie programmer can make a GUI in VB or C# and sell the soft... and if you have troubles I doubt you'll money will be refunded.

As long as we know, the only guy that has managed to unlock BB5 handsets is Dejan Kaljevic (though we have not see indeed an unlocked BB5 handset by him, but he claims he can). Anyways, I think he's selling is solution in another forum.

The problem we might have is that we don't know if the N70 uses BB5. Maybe it's another technology, or maybe it's DCT4 (but I doubt it's DCT4).

If the guy can refund your money and guarantees that (indeed his words sound gentle), you can give a shot. But, of course, ther no certainty.

And i did obviously; i didnt know he was selling it. But to be honest, Voda charges £20 and this guy charges $20(=£11). So for £9 more, i will sleep better at nights :)

1. checked the file for viruses and its clean

2. doesnt unlock N70, i get a check cable connection error at 15% progress

It happens the same even with no cable connected. I'll check with a port listener to see if it really tries to find a phone

UPDATE:
Well, i bet it's indeed a fake program :x as i had PORTMON listening to all ports and nothing was detected while that program was running :eek:

i just hope no one paid for this app

May i ask why?

That is a non-functional interface i built in less then 10 minutes just to show that anyone can make such a similar false aplication. The text you see in that window was written by me; not a real reading and unlocking procedure ;)

Well, since this is the first case that we've seen about N70, we are not sure if it can be unlocked or not. For now, the best solution is to contact your provider and buy the code, because we're not sure if the new N series belongs to DCT4 tech or BB5 tech.

Well... at least, I'm not sure ;)

If you decide to buy the code, please post it here, so we can track the origin and a possible first approach to the N series lock tech.

thats because it was never intended to work because it's fake you'd have more luck unlocking it by dropping it down the friggin toilet.

if you can't even be bothered to read a few posts on these forums telling you there is no solution then why should any one even bother to help you ???

People, N70 is a BB5 phone. For further info on this technology, check out the BB5 section in Nfree please. Probably this thread, if it continues to be used for programs or apps intended to unlock BB5 phones -which are for now all fakes-, "help me to unlock my N70 phone" questions or things like that, will be either moved to BB5, closed, or both things.

I'm leaving this thread here just for future reference to BB5 technology on DCT4 section (many people that come here do not know that their N series, 6670, 6680, etc, are BB5 and not DCT4).
