Hi All,
I'm having problems unlocking a nokia 2600 from the Australian Telstra Network.
I've searched through the forum and found a few posts related to the process, with one poster having success - I tried their method using the "original" setting but no success. I also tried using the serial on the box with no success..
How many attempts do I get? And what happens when I run out of goes? Does the phone lock, is it reversible in any way?
The 2600 doesn't appear to have a data connection, so I'm guessing a cable won't be any good.
Any help greatly appreciated - I don't want to pay to get the code from Telstra!
Thanks

You a maximum of 5 tries. After that the phone keeps operating normally but to unlock it you'll need a professional device (not even provider code will do)
As for the cable connection, most nokia phones don't connect from the bottom (where one usually plugs the communication cable) but through some yellow/gold pads under the battery ;)
To help us help you to get the right code you must supply the firmware's version and date (type *#0000#)

Thanks for the info :)
Firmware info:
V3.36
29*11*04
RH-59
I should have written down the codes that I've already used.. but I haven't :o
So using NokiaFree Unlock CC v.3 I've been using these settings:
Nokia
2600
IMEI ##
Australia
Telstra MobileComms
50501000
ASIC
V2 - 33820 (Have also used "Custom" with the serial from the box, and "original" 32779)
I reckon I'm onto the 5th go.. Anyway I haven't been sure which code to be using when they spit out.. some ppl have said use the +1 first and others the +7..
Cheers!

my advise is to try one of the safest GEN nowadays: ONE (32836)
With you firmware date the GEN "Original" should have worked but it also depends on what lock code you typed. Better try the 7th code next time
Good luck and post results

Ok, have just tried that using the 7th and it said "not allowed" ?

You sure you hadn't use all the 5 tries? It sounds like the code tries have expired :???:

I may have used all 5 now.. I really don't know!
Subway, no i haven't tried the first code out of that GEN.. and do you mean the 2nd out of the 7 codes? Or do you mean typing in the 1st as a 2nd shot? :???:

Well I tried the first two codes out of that GEN and got "not allowed" both times. I'm assuming I've run out of shots now.
Is there a data cable option now?! Any idea which cable to get?
I didn't think the process would be so hit and miss - now that I've used all 5 shots, will the network #pw+ work? Or is that one no good too?

If the 5 tries have run out then network code won't do as well since they calculate the same way ;) it's just that they know for sure what settings to use :-P
This might be a crazy guess but can it be that the phone is already unlocked? Have you tried a different SIM card in it? I say this because the message for code error is "code error" (duhh), for valid code "Restriction off", for valid code with all 5 tries used "Can't undo restriction" and for not locked lock should be "not allowed". but then again i might be shooting the wrong direction

Hi again,
have been doing some tests with my unlocked (with box) 8310 and this is what i found:
MCC+MNC=00101
Tried correct code on lock 1 and got "Phone wasn't restricted"
Tried wrong code on lock 5 (not locked!) and got "Code error"
Tried wrong code on lock 5 for another 4 times and finally got "Can't undo restriction"
Tried correct code on locks 1,5 and 7 and got "Can't undo restriction" in all of them
so this means that the counter for the wrong tries works for all the locks at once; no chance to add 5 tries for each lock
hope this helps to clear some doubts :D
cheers
PS:
phone remains unlocked though ;)
