anyone know how to upload the tomtom sat nav software into my nokia 6680 phone
I used nokia pcsuite to load all the software onto the memory card of my 6630 then went to the memory card on the phone and clicked on one of the icons...cant remember which one which appeared to install it onto the phone. when I checked the menu later there was a tomtom icon and also a tomtom contact icon.
I'd assume its the same for the 6680

if you've bought tomtom then it should have instructions with it... if its not a legit copy then you need to copy it across via a memory card reader. It wont work (if not legit) via nokia PC suite as it cannot read/write to certain system folders.
Hope this helps

all you need to do is put the tomtom on your comp get a card reader and drag them to the reader when your memory card is in it , bit you need a min 256 rsmmc to put it all on :D

Whats the difference between a £20 reciever and £80 one?
How does it know where speed cameras are?
How do i update them?
Whats the best software to tell me route and speed camera?

1.
Price difference between receivers reflect the technology and the mathematic al algorithms used to pin-point your exact location. For example the more expensive ones use newer algorithms (sirf III) and calculations that enable you to put your GPS unit in the glovebox, door card, under your seat (i've tried this and it works!) and would still enable it to work. They can use low strength signals more effectively to determine position, they also work well in cities where there are lots of tall buildings or dense wooded areas. Not to say the £20 ones are crap but you loose out on some of these feature plus you may need to have it near your windscreen which means if u use ur phone and ur constantly in and out of ur car then its a reason to break in! google sirf III and see what u come up with.
2.
Speed cameras are not detected by tomtom, they rely on a database of known cameras. They are simply POIs (points of interest) so u can set up an alert when u approach a speedcamera then u will know. Beware tho, it doesent have all of them... i've had to add a few manually in my area. If u got legit copy then u can get regular updates that update ur phone with new locations either thru GPRS or by file d/ls ... i'm not completly sure. Some people have created their databases of speed cams which i think should be able to work with tomtom.
3.
I think tomtom is great, does what I need to and more. I havent used any others so I can't recommend... have a look at route 66.
Hope this helps

Might be better off gettin mem card from picstop.com under £30 with lifetime warranty includin delivery in the UK, end of the day up to you: http://picstop.co.uk/MultiMedia-(MMC)/Kingston-MMC-mobile-(Dual-Voltage)---512MB
Dont forget the memory card reader, without it u wnt be able to transfer all the folders. Probably need an in car phone holder if u aint got one.
Other than that everything else looks good.

you only need to use a card reader if you want to access the system folder
some files from tomtom need to be put in there
I have a sis setup for S60, that way you just install it and no need to use cardreader
the maps can be easily copied by pcsuite and cable (or even BT, but this takes a while)
