Hi Everybody !!!
No, I'm not talking about the crazy frog, I'm talking about the "ding" that my Nokia 3230 makes when I receive a message.
I'm new to this Symbian stuff, so not sure if the "ding" can be removed?
Thanks for any replies.

I was thinking crazy frog! Ha! :)
Surely you can just change the message alert tone, if thats what it is ?!? I think this should be somewhere in profiles on the main menu.
Any good?

Hi Scullyscully and thanks for your reply !!!
No, the annoying DING is still there when I change my message tone, I've even imported wav sounds to use as a message tone, but I still get the ding and then my phone plays the message tone or sound?
Maybe it's just an inbuilt thing for these phones?
Thanks anyway {:@>

Ooh eer. Hmmm.
You could try emailing a nokia service centre or popping in and asking about it.
Maybe its a firmware thing? Someone here must have that phone....what firmware have you got on it? *#0000#
It sounds pretty annoying! Good luck.
......oh...hey, I just looked it up here,http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/archive/t-36105.html its a firmware bug, if the firmware has been updated since april when this was written (probably) and your phone is still under warrenty you can take it to a Nokia centre and get it updated.

someone else noted these....

V 3.0505.2

* Beep before a ringtone or smstone is played
* Profile selection using the power button (one press) usually won't work - example changing back to general from silent
* Vibrate doesn't always vibrate when silent mode is on (esp when a SMS message is delivered to the phone)

well u know what. you cannot pt that ding sound away bcoz that's part of nokia 3230. all nokia 323o have that kind of sound whenever a call or an sms is received.
the only thing you can do now is to upgrade your 3230 to 4.0 something to lwer the sound, the ding sound will become a beep sound but still it is there.
hope this helps

Hi Darkilong,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not sure how to download firmware, so I will just put up with it and maybe get a new phone someday.
I chose this one because of the push to talk feature, but it hasn't come out in the UK yet?

mine just got upgraded. well the ding is still there but not as loud as before. i guest it's not a bug but somewhat part of nokia 3230. it fixes the camera fat image and made my fonts better. cost me around 9 dollars.
