Spent a few hours trawling through posts and learning much along the way (newbe to the flashing side of things), but haven't come across anything specific to the 7270. What i need to know is if a box is required or would a cable and soft do the job? if the later, anybody point me in the right direction :-? Im doing this as a favour for a mate as he dropped it and broke the hinge, after replacing the case & ribbon the screen just "lights up" on power up and touching the keypad... So i pressume its a software prob...

Cheers guys

But I doubt its a software problem..after dropping phone..mostly ist UPP problem..U need to reheat it..

cheers sergo,

Found out my friend had tried opening it himself with no ESD protection, so maybe this is a prob too... Dont suppose you know where the UPP is located on the 7270? Ive repared pcb's b4 but not on fones, i cant get access to a station at the mo, any tips on reheating, heard about using a pait stripper on here!!!????????!! which sounds a bit severe...

Thanks for your help on this 1...

i dont think this is a software problem... true though that this kind of fault can be software but the phone doesnt boot up enough for the backlight to go out and for the keypad to be registered... you need a new lcd mate, if you have already replaced it then check the connectors and suff like that before going to extremes and reflowing the UPP!! :-o

ps... no disrespect Sergo... am an admirer of your work!!

Yaeh, can see your point, but wouldn't the back screen light up too, which it doesnt... hhhmmm, luckily i've got a spare lcd so will give it a try... If all else fails, I'll try a reflow... Any of you used an oven for this, as I read in one post?

if you have an undersealed component on the board i wouldnt recommend it... using a paint stripper is less extreme but more controlled... your best option is a hot air rework station...
