Unlock 6230 vodaphone Uk - help Please?

Hi There,

Im attempting to unlock a 6230 which is currently restricted to vodaphone UK.

This doesn't really make any sense to me.... Hence the reason Im asking for help!
Which 'GEN' should I select (Im using the DCT4 calculator on this site)
Ive tried putting in a couple of codes already (Without sim) but they dont seem to get accepted - I get "emergency calls only", do I need to insert a foreign sim to unlock?

Now - How do I get rid of the traces of vodafone? The "Live!" shortcut and the "how are you?" startup nonsense?

Any help appreciated (I have searched - But couldn't help myself)
