[QUESTION] Ringtones

Why the ringtone count in NOKIA 3310 differs from each other? One man told me that NOKIA menu is limited to 71 menu items. But on one nokia i can see 71 ringtone, on another 68, on yet another 75. I flashed all these 3310 with the same flash. Any way to see 80 or 90 ringtones.?

P.S. I add all these ringtones with add_ppm_ringtone script. PPM_Edit sees all the ringtones. All 100 hundred ringtones. So i guess it is really menu items restriction. But why the visible ringtones count differs?

P.P.S Maybe someone could modify the add_ppm_ringtones script. Like, if you add more than 65 ringtones, script creates new menu item called "More.." and there it puts all the rest ringtones... I know this must be posted to ideas thread, but i want to put all in one post.. Sorry.

Hi,

Prior to using a tone, Ur Nokia 1st makes a list of all available tones in Ram.

This list contains all mcu, ppm & eeprom ota tones, but now in one list.

This total ram list size is Ur restriction, to gain more tones, U will have to start reserving a bigger ram portion for storing this total list.

The small differences can be since the number of ota tones do differ in various phones.

For deeper theory, U can use search for the 'mToneZ16' or 'multi tones' patch discussions some while ago at this forum.

There is shown how people can play around with these 3 types of tones, and the way how the seperate mcu, ppm & eeprom tones are being handled inside that ram list.

And that way add, replace or reindex tones in any style U want.

In the mToneZ demo the focus was on boosting the current 7 ota tones into 16 tones.

But same principles can also be used to expand Ur max 70 tones stuff too.

Search of mToneZ16 game me no results but this thread, and search of "multi tones" gave no sensible results too.
