Has anyone out there successfully configured Gmail on their phone through their POP3 app? The only Nokia I've gotten it to work with is the 7710, and only because the 7710 has more extensive email configuration options than most of the others I've tried. The 7610 and 6670 both lack the proper options to configure it.

The 7710 isn't for me, so I'm trying to find a different smartphone that will do it. I'm hoping the 6630 will do it, maybe the 6680 as well. Any info is appreciated.

This is not answering your question, but have you tried using WAP for gmail?

Have you tried 6280, N70 & N91? All of them can support IMAP4, POP3 and SMTP email

The 7610 supports the same protocols as well. However, the email client doesn't support Authentication, so it cannot connect. The 7710 had a different setup, so it allowed the options necessary to connect properly. I worry that the N70 and the like will be just like the 7610.

Any BB5 owners out there care to check out their configuration for me? :-D

Hello :)

The Nokia 3230 supports G-Mail via POP with it's built-in e-mail client as well as with ProfiMail. I'm using it daily :)

Kind regards.....

Thanh

Excellent, that's the info I needed. Thanks!

6630 and 3230 should have the same email client, so I should be fine with a 6630

Three determining questions for the BB5 owners:

In the email client, does it have the option for SSL on both incoming and outgoing servers?

Does it have the option to select the port for those servers?

Does it have an option for "Requires Authentication" anywhere?

I configured my N91 manually for Gmail... just before it broke down for the second time. Let's see if it works when I get it back from Carphone warehouse

???

On my N70 I use the browser interface to load up my GMAIL

OK granted Im not notified when I have new mail unless I refresh the Gmail Inbox, but when you pay £10 a month for 2gb of Browsing with TMobile UK does it really matter?

The 6680 connects to GMail using the built-in mail client.
