i have read every post i can find! no one explains what to do when without using a cable?!

i am having probelms trying to get my a800 to work on vodafone! it is on virgin at the mo!

I have a couple of threads saying type in *2767*637hash (i dont have that key - im on a mac) with no sim card but nothing about this cable!

I dont have a cable etc, do i need one?

IS TEHERE ANY WAY TO UNLOCK THE SAMSUNG A800 FROM VIRGIN TO VODAFONE BY JUST TYPING SOMETHING IN?

this is what i did:

i typed in the code *2767*637hash with no sim card in the phone then pressed ok. It came up with the message "emercency calls only"

i then put turned the phone off and put in my new sim (vodafone) and it displayed the message "networked locked"

What do you press after you have typed in the code? should i have pressed ok? when do i out the sim in etc?

i dont understand!? i am on virgin and want to go to vodafone.
can you explain it to me step by step please - explain it like im stupide because i dont understand!
