nokia 8310 phone-software problems

a while ago, i dropped my phone with a dead battery.when i went to charge it,and turn it in, it had seemed to restore the factory settings. so i put the date and time back in. i then found out that the phone no longer ran, vibrated and started to hide contacts in my address book.

i thought it was a hardware problem, but someone explained to me that if i could still hear phone calls, and it vibrated in snakes, then the hardware is fine, and its a software problem.

my warrently ran out this january, so i cant send it to nokia for free, and i dont want them charging me shit loads for a simple problem.

does anyone know how i can get a software update on my phone, i think its flashing with a data cable? and does anyone know a business who can do this for me at a reasonable price?

ive had this problem since september, and now im fed up with the damn thing!
