This is all new to me, so here goes...
I just bought a serial cable off eBay for my 3410, seller claims it switches automatically between FBUS/MBUS as required. I hooked it up to the phone and ran NokTool 1.8, which said it couldn't see the phone. Neither could the demo version of OPM 2.2.
Out of curiosity I opened it up, and in the end that connects to the phone there are three wires: one connected to the ground pin, the other two connected together to the remaining three pins (FBUS TX/RX and MBUS) with one large blob of solder!
The schematics I've seen on the web for building such a cable all involve a small amount of circuitry, usually a MAX232 IC. I have two questions, then:
1) Can this thing really work?
2) If so, do I need a driver (nothing was supplied with the cable)?
Many thanks for your help
