Problems with data cable for 8310

Hi new here so if I'm being dumb please forgive me! Got an 8310 I need to repair, got the correct software & cable, but whenever I try to use it the programme either doesn't read the phone or my phone screen flashes the message "accessory not supported". It's driving me crazy Can any of you kind experienced folks out there help me. Any advice greatly appreicated

what you trying to do ??

any unlocking or flashing requires a prodigy dongle or something similar

all you can do with a cable is logo's ringtones etc

I'm trying to change the IMEI number on a friends and I have an 8310 myself I wanted to use the computer to save my phone book stuff ect. Can't do anything!!!!! Please help before I go crazy!!!!!!!
