Obviously there is a LOT more to these phones than I realise,...I have much to learn...so far I like my 6225 CDMA and will enjoy and frustrate over this site for months to come.

    Sim

    @ harrysbags

    Hello

That SIM slot in the back of your phone is only used in few countries... like Thailand, China, Indonesia and evtl. Korea. Those countries have CDMA providers that supply their users with a R-UIM (SIM for CDMA) to be used just like a SIM in a GSM phone.

In other countries (U.S.A., Australia, etc) where the networks don't support the R-UIM (yet), this slot has no function since the phone can also be used traditionally, i.e. programmed.

Putting a GSM-SIM in that slot will NOT make the phone work in a GSM network! See my "Conversion" thread.

I live in Thailand, and am user of Hutch here (CDMA 2000-1x, soon to be EV-DO) and i have a R-UIM in the back of my Sanyo SCP-550. If i want to change phone, i just buy another one and put the R-UIM in it - ready. Just like GSM

    Kind regards.....

    Thanh
