When entering unlock code, do you insert the "plus" sign also?

I've been given unlock codes for my phone, but I wanted to make sure I know how to enter them correctly before trying. I read the help post about entering the "p" in by pressing the "*" key 3 times, and I read about entering the "w" in by pressing the "*" key 4 times, but do I also actually enter the "+" sign.....by pressing the "*" key 2 times? I just wanted to make sure that you actually enter the symbol "+".

Also, if you type in the incorrect code 5 times, I understand that you phone can now only be unlocked using a cable. But after 5 incorrect entries does this also mean that you can't use you phone at all?

So I do enter the actual "plus" signs as well by pressing the "*" button 2 times?

And about the 5 tries....if it doesn't work within 5 tries will my phone still work at all?

yes, insert everything EXACTLY as you see it. #pw+1234567890+1# or whatever. after your 5 tries, your phone will still work, but you will no longer be able to enter unlock codes by keypress; you will need to use a cable
