Registration failed usually means that either the simcard has been disconnected or you haven't paid your bill! The other reason is that your phone is blacklisted (Reported Stolen)! Contact the provider or if it's stolen, run!
A friend will bail you out of jail! A true friend will be in the cell with you saying " Shit, we really fucked up this time!!!"

if i call up my provider and say i unlocked it, id get in trouble, is unlocking illegal. And if i call up and ask how it got disconnectef can they trace to what i typed in the phone

Why would you mention that you unlocked your phone?
T-Mobile unlocks phones every day if you request it so there is nothing illegal with that.

Just call ATT and tell them that you get this message every time you turn if on. Find out why is that?

    Good luck !
