6310i cable and s/w help

I have a secondhand 6310i. Can not unlock due to (i guess) previous unlock attempts. What sort of cable and software will I need to unlock it? I have data cable which I can use with a number of softwares to manipulate SIM, logos, ringtones etc.. will it do? What sofware should I use to unlock?

Hey. It all depends on what version of software the fone's running. Turn on the phone without the sim and type *#0000#. If it says v5.10 or above, it gets substantially more tricky to get it unlocked. If not, you can download software off the net and try the cable unlock. If the original owner of the fone got the data cable with it, it's probably an FBus cable, which is for more trivial things than unlocking, but there is software to do it, like FBus by Maestro. Get this off the net, and it should work. If this fails, try JIC DCT4 unlocker, this only works with MBus cables, but u mite get lucky. It its above v5.1, u'll need to flash the fone with a lower version of software and then unlock it. Ur cable won't be able to do this tho, u'll need a DCT4 flasher.
