    8*** losing signals

Prior to buying a hot-air rework station I found that a solution to this very common problem in 80% of cases was to strip the phone down to the bare circuit board, then to use an ordinary hair dryer on full heat/power held about 1" away for about 30 seconds. This has the effect of re-flowing the solder around the cobba and other chips restoring the signal.

As a 40 year old engineer employed by a large company specialising in Nokia equipment I thought my suggestions would be of benefit to the boards younger members who cannot afford expensive equipment.
Obviously not, according to your moderator.

    Goodbye and farewell

although it should be done the professional way for best results, if a cheaper way needs to be then here is another "cowboy way" (hey but it works if the signal problem and damage is not too serious!)

    strip down to pcb
take pcb and wrap in tin foil
put under a spot lamp/table lamp about 1 inch away from pcb
heat on one side for 15 mins
then turn over and do the same on other side (caution as it will be very hot)
    switch off lamp
let the pcb cool down before re-fitting
power on the phone and USUALLY the problem is fixed

I used to do this years ago before I learned how to re-ball and repair phones professionally. It is not guaranteed to fix the problem and even if it does it might not solve the problem for long, but it usually does the trick as a temporary job.
