Maestro problem reading 7600

I have maestro v0.25, a serial fbus cable (I'm told anyway) and a 7600 from 3.

I want to reset to factory but i'm unable to get the software to see the phone. I'm running xp although i've tried it on w2k and a number of other machines (running xp). I dont have a sim in the phone when trying to connect. Any help please?

Is it the comms settings under xp?

you can leave sim inserted into phone.
and phone MUST BE on!

usually there are no troubles with COM and XP.
are you sure, you have the right cable, and does the cable work fine? test it with other applicaions to be sure, cable is working properly.

are there any other programs block the com port, so thats busy? try com 1/2
