It's a lot easier to change the ESN by unsoldering a few chips, and replacing them with chips of a different phone. I dont remember exactly which chips have to be replaced, but my co-worker has done it before with a doner phone.

    Test

I've been doing some test and the problem , I think, is that the eeprom have some info about the other ICs written in it. because if you change the eeprom from one phone to another, It won't work. I think it has some info about those ICs written in it.

    ...

i had the opportunity of being in a nokia service center to get trained in 6185, and guess what, what ismael says is "true" but that what in nokia center is said, what i am looking for is the nokiasoc, that mentioned program that once cracked can change the ESN and thats my interest because a few claim to succeed in changing it but there is no proves...
i cant remember the name of the security that nokia gave to the chips.... the only thing i know is if you change the MAD or the CCONT or the EEprom, some mechanism which controls them electronicaly block the phone up
    thanks

PS: nokia service center is the sme as nokiasoc???????????????
looks like a stoopid question, but..... if i dont know i should ask, dont you think so?

It does change the esn BUT BUT BUT, you'll F' up the phone because it will never get signal again.

If you want it I need a few software for cdma, mail me in pvt or contact me via ICQ and will talk.

i tried using nokiasoc to copy an esn before reading this thread. I would really like to know why the phone wont get a signal anymore. Does it have to do with caculating the FAID. (if it's a stupid ?, sorry, Im learning) Does the phone have to be flashed in order for the copy to work correctly?

    To jibril_s ...

Do u really found how to calculate checksum and also the

    address of it ...?

if u know it ...do u know how to flash it to MAD ...?

If you guys want to change esn by hardware process, you need to desold and change eeprom, cooba, mad (if isnīt the same version).

By software, I believe nobody has sucess at this moment, coz noone can calculate FAID for TDMA, and nokiasoc does not do this.
