Nokia 3230 camera and MMC questions

    Hello

I have a couple of questions regarding the 3230.

First, does it have a camera flash? Information from the net is misleading, since there is a seperate add-on flash device offered, but what else is that square thing beside the camera lens..? Looks like a "typical" LED flash on other cam phones....

Second, does it take "normal" RS-MMC's or does it need the stupid DV ones? I do understand that it is shipped with a DV, but so is the 6260 which does also work with "ordinary" ones.

I am considering getting a 3230 for my boyfriend who is more and more frustrated about his 6260, which has too many bugs and Nokia STILL hasn't got an updated firmware available at the NCC here in Bangkok, now that the phone is officially released since more than 5 months. Second hand 6260's show up all over the place and the price has dropped dramatically because of this. We will lose more than 75% if we sell it now.

    Kind regards.....

    your Thanh

how about the MMC... and where's the catch..?

    Hello

Thank you very much for reply OK so i know what about the flash/mirror. These mirrors are pretrty useless - had one on a Panasonic, well the cam did not exactly shoot what you saw in that mirror but lower right of that - ok, accepted.

How about the MMC? Is it standard RS or these DV-RS-MMC's that you can't get anywhere? I ask because i just got him a 256 MB RS version for the 6260, which would obviously be used in the 3230 as well (if possible, if not, the 3230 won't be bought because 32 MB sucks and 256 is not available in DV version, well at least not here, max 64 MB is available and expensive as hell).

Also, where is the catch with that phone? There got to be something wrong with it, otherwise it weren't a Nokia. I tought the 6600 is perfect - it could do everything i wanted, untill i found out that there is of course a catch - it doesn't support SSL with GPRS, which rules out the use of G-Mail accounts. However ELSE it's perfect.

Now the 3230 seems to have a very good physical quality, excellent screen, EDGE on board, support for SSL and all that stuff - there HAS TO BE a catch *somewhere*. Please tell me if you found it - i don't want to exchange a lemon (6260) for another.

    Kind regards.....

    your Thanh

I think the catch is that it's got less powerful cpu than 6630, 6680 and 6681. I tried 3230 in a shop a couple of days ago, and it's seems like a nice phone.

Nokia 3230 uses reduced size MMC. Yes its a mirror beside the camera.
Heres the catch-- Mp3 player is NOT STEREO. Also u cannot select MMC memory for Inbox. Only phone memory is available for messages. That means U cannot send a file whose size is more than phone memory since ach file to be sent thru a Bluetooth or Ir has to be moved to outbox first.

But on the other hand, it has radio with STEREO output, Mp3 player is not at all bad, and it has one of the best camera avaulable in mobile phones.
