Nokia 3200b Signal Loss after unlock;Should I flash?

I have a customer that just bought a 3200 from me. I unlocked it FROM AT&T and signed her up on Cingular. The phone worked ok for a few hours; but now it intermittantly loses signal, then gains it back. Same thing happens with my AT&T SIM. I thought maybe it was lacking the 850 freq.(EGSM) but it is from AT&T. Then i opened it up and checked for water damage, but there is none. Then I opened up the antenna compartment and it was fine and the points clean. I have noticed this same problem in a 3100 and 3120, also. Will flashing help this? It's an rh-31 and the software is V a3.12 19-11-03. Where do i start and what should I download. If I could get a step by step for this particular model i could probably figure out the other ones. I also need to upgrade the software in some AT&T 6620's(they still have the 2.14) but first things first. Thanx in advance.

    Hi Mr. PeakCelln

First, please delete one of your posts, as it is a double post.

Second: Flashing would certainly clear a lot of variables of the path, but there's no guarantee it will solve the problem. It could be a hardware problem, humidity, etc. Although with a good cleaning (inside and outside) most of this kind of problems can be sorted out, some others, as hardware failures, sometimes can not.

As you say, there's a pattern there. It's a common failure in some handsets. It would be strange to believe that all of them has the same firmware failure, I'd say that if they were all stored in the same place under the same conditions, most probably is a hardware failure determined by some environmental conditions.

So, flashing the handset would clear the path to software related problems. If the failure persists, do a thorough cleaning on the inside as in the outside. If there is still a failure, most probably it's hardware, and difficult to solve if you do not have the adequate equipment and knowledge.

As for the flashing procedure, I couldn't determine if you know it or not, but I'd bet you have an idea but not the whole knowledge of it, because you ask what to download. In fact, there's nothing to download. You need special equipment, a box, like Tornado, UFS, Griffin, Prodigy, etc. They all come with cables and replacement firmware. In your case, due to the fact that you have more than just one or two handsets, maybe a box will be useful.

Check the link at the top of this site to Ucables for information about boxes, prizes, and other data. In case you want to know which is better... well, nobody could say, as they all do the job. Check for convenience on price, guarantee, accesories out of the box, technical support... the usual stuff that you check when you are going to buy anything

    Best regards
