3210 cannot unlock

I have a 3210 I bought legitimately from an auction on the understanding it had a fault - only that there was no signal. It is type NSE-8. Turns out it had no antenna so thats easy fix.

I've got a data cable, and Ive managed to unlock before (although on Windows 2000 - noktool Is a pain, the s/w that unlocks on 98 only seems to work better).

However, I have got this phone and its boxed. I can guess that the IMEI on the box matches the phone I hope, and leads me to guess that it was on one to one contract.

I want to unlock to all, at least orange anyway.

When I do manage to get it to communicate with the noktool 321 the info populated in IMEI etc looks corrupted. It does show locks however but they will not clear and show randomly as CLOSED for either GID1 or GID1,2 and MSIN together. I can read it shows NSE-8 in the IMEI and the orig IMEI if this makes any sense but the MCU SW looks completely garbage.

why don't you flash the phone?
for unlock is better to use eprom tools with mbus cable

eeprom tools. Ill check that one out.
As for flashing - I doubt it. Unless the standard cable I got will work, which I doubt as it doesnt go to LPT port.
Actually 2000 just doesnt like the unlock tools, as I tried to explain badly. Its not the tool thats at fault here.
Pity, but I just setup a computer for my friend with 98 but dont have access to it right now. Maybe Ill install a 98 just so that I can get access to other 9x only version Nokia tools.
Anyway after a reboot, it does seem to come up with right information like IMEI which shows it matches the box so thats right at least, first time you run anyway.
I think it showed s/w version 5.21 as well or something like that.

It just wouldnt unlock- said mbus cable not connected even though it had read the phone fine.
Then the s/w starts to play up and wont read info from the fone anymore.

I have managed to unlock this way my old sturdy 3210 fine. I didnt need to, but I just did it to that phone as a test (it was on my orange, and I gave it to my g-f who was on orange too).

I have eeprom tools v3.1

I have to click "test" or "unlock" twice to get any response but doing so did the trick.
Test confirmed DSP ok
unlock unlocked the phone okay

now I can use Orange satisfactorily.
