USB- IrDA

First of all dont get your knickers in a knot for posting hardware question here because there is no Hardware section ( thanks ).

My question is if i buy a USB-IrDA will it work on any phone that has IR eg: use IrDA for nokia 7250 and 8910? Or do you have to buy seperate ones for each. Also is it hard to use or setup?

I think it may depend on the software you get with it.I have a MA-620 usb infrared adapter and it is compatible with the Nokia 7210,5210,6210,6250,6310,6500,6510,7110,8210,8250,8290,8310,8850,8855,8890,8910.It may well work on others but i ain't sure.

I have the Nokia 7210 on Rogers AT&T Wireless and require the following settings for my phone to gain access to services they provide. Here are the following setting locations and options/required input I need....

Location: "Menu > Connectivity > GPRS"

Settings:

- GPRS connection: "When needed" or "Always online" ?

Location: "Menu > Connectivity > GPRS > GPRS modem settings > Edit active access point"

You posted this in several threads which got nothing to do with it.... You get these settings from the Network operator (in that case, Rogers AT&T Wireless, or on their website.

YES! But Rogers will NOT give them to me since this is an imported phone!!

IrDA is an industry standard, but you may need to tweak the IrDA adapter settings if you're need to use it with more than one phone.

With my BAFO BF-120 IrDA adapter, I had to lower the connection speed to 57600 to connect to my 6510. Now that I no longer have the 6510, I set it back to the maximum speed which works fine with the rest of my phones (7110, 6610, plus a Sony Ericsson T300) and my PDA.
