Nokia 3650 eMail POP/SMTP how to USE my own domain mail-server ??

    hi all

i have a 3650 and would like to use POP3/SMTP with my own domain hosted in US that offers a standard config for POP and SMTP ( smtp after pop)

any attemp to use a default configuration of POP3 or smtp fails / hangs ... and upon request my HOST said they do NOT support WAP devices ...

is there a special POP/SMTP SERVER needed ??
i tried the regular config as used for mozilla/netscape/kmail, etc ..
it seems to me that the process hangs when the pasword is sent

    any info please ??
or do i really need a special software to make my email server availabel to my nokia ?

i have to admit that i still have firmware v 1.3 ( i got my nokia 2 days ago and HERE in the philippines there is NO service center making free upgrades OR any upgrades at all ( at leasat within a few hundreds of kms around me ) - i have to download firmware myself then find first someone having the hardware ... ( just in case that this might be the ONLY cause for failure to POP email ). i hope in a few days i have solved the firmware problem.

    greetings and thanks in advance

You should be able to use the default pop server. But you have to use your operator's smtp server.

Are you sure you are using a GPRS internet accesspoint, and not a WAP GPRS accesspoint?

    gprs accesspoint

    hi

i use default configuration as transmitted for use by service-message upon service request from cellphone provider for my model .

it looks all like clean gprs config and works for all - escept my email.

i used a java application for email "EmailViewer"
it works fine for POP AND smtp by the software company ( trial version ) hence there should be NO requirement to use smtp server from phone provider unless you can explain me the tech reason for that ... ?

i use my own domain smtp server from anywhere in the world ( worldly speaking !! ) together with my pop server on various email clients ...

hence i thought there ust be a clean option to do the very same with the 3650 IF the firmware AND software is working fine.

downloading the firmware seems almost impossible from this server HERE - it takes 10 hrs ( the ftp server is too slow even on a backbone download is half a day or so !!! ) and download gets interrupted before finish !!

3 days of repeated download atttempt have resulted in zero result so far.

may be there is another way to get the same file from an other download source ????

    any info is welcome
