8210 Screen goes out when entering menu

    Hi,

    I'm having a problem with my 8210.
When I enter a submenu (Messages - Inbox,...) my screen goes blank.
I have to turn it of and on again and evrything is back ok.
I changed the screen twice today so that can't be it
I hope someone can help me.

Another question, I would like to flash my phone but don't have a cable yet, I checked out m-99 and they have a "Nokia Flash Cable Kit".
First they say it can upgarde soft and then they say it can only unlock.
Can someone tell if it is this cable I need to upgrade my soft?

    thanks in advance.

i think you need to make an upgrade of your version of soft of the phone for that you will need an flasher cable kit as the one you refer , with that cable you can flash the phone , upgrade version soft of phone , make conversion type 8210 for 8250 or 8850 depending of rom 5 or 6 , you can unlock too with the respectives softwares like dejan flasher , nu2000 , nokia dtc3 flashe by rolis,etc... .
but to unlock i prefer mbus cable and eeproom tools to unlock the phone .
    stay cool

Yep, you have a simple software issue! You WILL need flash cables, and the M-99 ones are great! Same as mine! I didn't buy them there, but they are the same ones! Just ask them whether the 3210 connector has 4 or 6 pins! You need 6, but a few people recently have asked why they only have 4!? Get the full pack, Flash, M\Fbus and connectors! 18.75 pound I think! Then jsut use my Flashing tutorial in the Forum FAQ!

    thanks for the replies,
the strange thing is that the worked ok for about a year and then suddenly it starts acting weird.
Is this really the soft you think?
I sure hope so, 'cause I'm very satisfied about this phone

I already contacted that store to ask about the 3210 cable, awaiting a reply.
    will keep you posted

Just a test! Next time it does that, press down firmly on the nokia logo above the screen and tell me if it makes a difference!?

    Hi!

Mr. madmannia cant You read ... the guy already changed thisplay two times..the test that chunkhead offer / with preasure over the nokia logo is good/ if the screen goes blank after that test maybe a new elastomer will do the job but the future will show....

    Hi,

just tried by pressing the logo very very hard and no luck.
Even when I press the logo before I enter a submenu and keep on pressing while entering a submenu my screen goes blank.
I can still use the phone but without screen.
I can lock my keyboard and I hear the beep to confirm it so it's really bizarre .
When I turn off the phone and put it back on the screen is back.
It happens when I enter my message inbox, when I set my alarm timer.
It's possible that it's a software problem like chunkhead mentioned but I thought it was kinda strange that it suddenly happened after more than a year of non-problems

If it could be solved by flashing I would definatly get me a kit cause I really like my phone.
About m-99: I live in Belgium, does anyone have experience with international transport of this company?

    thanks

Have seen exactly the same problem before.

Chunkhead is right, flashing should solve the problem, or at least it did with the one I had.

Get your cables (I've never used m-99, sorry cannot help there)and use chunkheads guide to flashing, it dead easy to follow should take you less than ten minutes.

Yeah, I've fixed a few 8xxx phones with that problem! M-99 are a large company, so they can't be that bad! Thay're also quite cheap! Cables are the same as mine!

Nah, it's not the elastomer! That's why we asked him to press on the Nokia logo hard! This will apply pressure to the elastomer! It's software!

    Hi,

This is 100% LCD Problem. i repaired so much of them. There was a LCD batch (LCD has Gold contacts) which is Faulty. Try a New LCD with glass contacts. I mean the Ilastomer contacts to LCD glass directly.

    Thanks

    Send me your reply.

    yes!!!! this is it.
I replaced the new lcd with one of my old damaged ones and now I can enter any submenu (including my inbox) without a problem.
    The phone works perfectly now.
Indeed when I look at the back of the new lcd the contacts are "gold".
What are the ods on having 2 lcd's from the same faulty batch when they are delivered to the store on different months??
will wait some more weeks and will return my new faulty lcd for a new non gold one.
I'm really glad my beauty works again, thanks alot for all the help.
This is really a great forum and I'm happy I discovered it,
this has certainly opened a whole new nokia world to me
    forget Club Nokia,
    Club NokiaFREE rules

    thanks again, cheers
