Doc, can barred mobile be fixed with this method?

My friend bought a 9210i from a shop, and after 2 weeks it stoped working, we came to know that it's barred, now the shop keeper say's it's not his problem and refuse to take it back or any replacement. Pls help, he's afraid to go to nokia cause it seems that the set is stolen. Please advice?
    Thanks in advance.

no way to fix it then...

    1) changing the IMEi number is illegal
    2) you would need to change the chip to do it and it is way out of the league of us..and see 1) above

    9210i is NOT DCT-4 its DCT-L(inda)

    IMEI changing like DCT-3

    but this is illegal!!!!

    DCT-4 calc would not help

@crashy: DON'T talk about things that you don't know!

Sorry guys, but i am new so i first of all thanks you for you efforts.
So should i say that the bottomline is:

    Solutions
    1. I can't change the IMEI unless i change the UEM chip(Which is illeagle but can be done).
    2. I can use that mobile in any other country without taking any further action.

So did i learn my lesson??

(Will not try to use the procedure mentioned before in this thread by the Calc software).

Thanks for being so co-operative, i have one more question, its not a hardware problem, its software.
Don't know where to post, so i will go here. (Appology admins if i posted in wrong place)

I have 300 msg(SMS) in memmory, and arround same quantity in communicator, i want them to be in one place?
I know that there is an option to move messages from commy to memmory, or vise versa, but that option only works if one side if blank, so i do have a problem cause i want all 600 sms in one location, either MMS or Commy.
    Help pls.
