After a 'Factory Restore' procedure on a 3390b, its unique (from 3390) features have disappeared. Worse yet, it began to take a very long time locating ANY network. Sometimes envoking signal-dependant functions would seem to speed up the connection establishment, but it could still take anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours befour it would do so.

A full reflash of the 3390 firmware from another, working unit has been performed, and the disappeared features were re-acquired and now perform flawlessly. The problem with locating signal however, persists. Several different SP sim cards have been tryed to no avail.

I should also note that 'Factory Restore' has been performed through EEPROMTools 3.1 by B-phreaks. However, I do not consider it responsible since two other 3390b phones that had it done the same way, have been fully restored via the same reflashing mentioned above.

Is there anything else that may have happened to the phone, to cause this malfunction; and is there an appropriate solution for this problem?

You use the term 'Factory Restore' which if thats what you did is NOT a good thing..

NEVER DO A FULL FACTORY (RESET/DEFAULT/RESTORE) especially without a backup!!

What you have done is wiped out ALL the specific tuning parameters to that unit and defaulted them to 'generic' parameters for the phone to work with.

The only way to correct that is (to have a scope/rf generator) and re-tune your phone like they do during manufacturing or to send it in for repair to someone who does..

actually factory restore was not my intention.
all i was trying to do was restore the original IMEI #,
UNFORTUNATELY, EEPROMTooles 3.1 by B-Phreaks runs a factory restore AUTOMATICALLY after the IMEI has been manually entered. Very frustrating especially since there was no wraning it would do so.

I think your explanation is feasible, except i dont understand one other thing then;
as i mentioned this happened to a few phones, and this is the only phone that did not get fixed with a FULL reflashing of the firmware.
you say it should not have been done without a back up, but here i used a bakcup from another, identical phone and it did fix others, but not this one..

really strange...

any more ideas?

also, how much is an RF generator?
