Thread: 6230 audio connector?

  1. #1

    Question 6230 audio connector?

    Hi all,

I just upgraded my 6230 with a 256MB mmc card and it works fine for the mp3 player.
My next goal is to be able to connect a normal (3.5mm) stereo headset.
I have few ideas, but I will need a pin list of the 6230 connectors for the wiring.
Where could I find that info ?

    Thanks

    franck

I did that before! it ROCKS!

    Hello

I am more than happy to support another "Mc Guyver" at this quest, namely putting the perfect audio to a Nokia

Please find attached the word-document "Pop-Port.doc" which gives you the diagram of the pop-port.

Be aware that your construction must include a bridge between pins 2 and 3, otherwise the device will not be recognised by the phone and you won't be able to get the radio playing.

Just to give you an idea: i used a headset from a Nokia 6510 (two-ear, yet mono, with that nice big clip that included the chrome answer button and the microphone. Then i also used a Pop-Port connector with some wire from a cheapo one-ear headset, and connected this to the 6510 device. Then i drilled a hole in the upper side of that device, and with some filing i could place a 3.5mm socket, taken from a broken walkman, into that thing. (If you buy one in a electronics store, it will most likely be way too large to fit in there! But the ones used in walkmans are small enough).

Now i had a Pop-Port connecting Headset which offered a large answer button, free to be clipped anywhere and with the ability to attach just about ANY headphone! It was not only a superb listening device for the very good radio in my then 6610, but as best, it could still be used as a handsfree

I was so satisfied with this device, that i later converted it again, now using a 2.5 mm "stereo" plug to use it as a headset for both my current (japanese!) phones, a Sanyo SCP 550 and a Maxon mc7921. Using original Sony headphones, i just can't get a better audio quality out of either phone... and for some strange reason, almost all jap phones have the same headset connector (also Motorola!) with the only difference being that some of them don't react to the answer button. Yet the Mike works always...... and of course, i now have the left and right ear bridged, since none of mine phones offers radio anymore.....

    Kindest regards.....

    your Thanh
