Hiya,
I would like to reverse engineer the 5140 software to find out how the digital compass API works.

First of all, is this possible?
(I believe that the DCT4 models have a quite tricky encryption/compression on the MCU software)

If possible, what kind of tools/software do I need?

(Note that I'm not interested in unlocking, I want to have a look at the ARM instructions in the MCU)
