V300 software ? problem

Hi people,
I have a completely legal (SHOCK HORROR!) V300 which seems to have a sofware fault. It will lock up when switched on. You can leave it forever and nothing happens.
Do any of you out there know of something that can re-install the software for this model that does not require a clip?, dismanteling or an act of God to sort it, lol.
I do have a USB data cable if that is any help.
