    Re naming .re files (ringtones)

Just been fiddling about, making a new flash for a 3315 (fade, line feed, blink, more ringtones etc) collected a load of good ringtones in .re format, changed names to what they should be and then loaded them into a flash, flashed to phone. On looking at the tones list on the phone, all the ringtones have gone back to their original names - i.e. bad spelling, crap incorrect named tunes, etc!! Does this always happen??

    Cheers, Kev.

    Hi Kev,

Correct me if I am wrong but I think what you have done is replace the file name only, what you need to do is change the information in the re. file itself.

I hope this is helpful, regards.

    Cheers mate!!

    That is what I did!!!
I have just opened one in notepad, and the name is in there as well. I'll try changing it in there and see what happens, bit of a pain in the arse though!!

    DON'T OPEN .RE IN NOTEPAD!
.re is hex data, you will corrupt your tones if open and save with notepad.

    use hex editor, eg. XVI32.
