8210--->>8250 very strange problem

My 8210 (ROM6) which has been upgraded to 8250, has a small problem, when im left an answer phone message by a caller, instead of the phone saying "voice message received" and gettinge the small tape icon at the top, im sent a text message that only contains a _ and an @ symbol, anyone else had this before? is this normal for 8250?
What could be wrong?
My network is Orange UK

As the Nokia 8250 unofficially was only available on Vodaphone in the UK, Orange did not test this phone on their network.

I was lucky enough to purchase the phone on Vodaphone and also have another contract on Orange.

This is normal on the Orange network (Don't know why) but at least it does give you some idea that you have a voice message.
