different imei numbers?

hi everyone. i just joined and been reading some of the recent threads. I just want to say that i had an 8310 until last week which had a different imei number when you *#06# than the imei under where the battery goes. having read some posts it would seem that everyone thinks it is impossible at the mo. Im just wondering if the person i bought it off really knew how to do this, or if there is a program which just makes it look like its been changed. Any ideas?

He may have swaped the pcb out

the box and a small plastic bag which was covering phone had same imei number on them as under the battery, which was different to *#06# number. the phone worked on orange and t-mobile, didnt try other networks, the only thing i noticed was a buzzing during calls, but think that was prob a faulty speaker
