i'm thinkin of buying an msi bluetooth key but i wanna know how far is the range....i see everywhere that it has 10-15 meters but let's talk pratical...

with a few walls between pc and phone does it work as well? let's say, from one floor up the house does it still communicate? of course, the range is <15m

anyone who has this can share some experience? it would be appreciated

    Hi,
I have MSI BT dongle and i was surprised how far it works - in my office approx 25-30m on same floor through walls, at home i am in 5th floor and go down by elevator (full sheet metal) the connection brakes at the 3 rd floor - that is enought for me.

I am using the MSI BT 6967 transceiver key. Bluetooth's standard operating range is 10 meters maximum for multipoint connection (for best transmission/reception), but other manufacturers like MSI is claiming 200 meters maximum, but this is only in an open area where...

    Bluetake

Have you had a look at the bluetake range? I've got the BT009S and a BT007S. The range on the smaller 009 is pretty good, It breaks for me after a floor down and about 8 or 9 metres away horizontally.

the slightly bigger 007 claims to have a 100 metre range and I've yet to test it fully, but I've managed to have and create connections from all over my garden and around the house. So far the maximum has been about 30 metres and through 1 solid cavity brick wall and two single thickness internal structural brick walls.

I've found that the actual range of the 009 depends on the placement of the device. i.e. which usb port you stick it onto and how much power the port has (whether it be a powered hub or a port on a keyboard or something)

It also plays havoc with my 2.4 ghz a/v sender. Which is a shame but unavoidable.

Also on a slight negative , I've yet to find a way of initiating the serial connection to the pc from the phone. Which means that if your connection drops for any reason, you have to trundle back to the pc to initiate it again (this is only for the serial connection though, you can still send stuff back to the pc)

I'd definitely reccommend both of them though but more so the 007.

    HTH, Zero.
