Thread: an old 8210 i need your comments

Question an old 8210 i need your comments

i always loved this phone but i have never owned one
now i have bought an old one from a friend for a small amount of money
and i want to improve its condition
actually it does not seem to have any software or hard ware problems
but the black plastic around the case is broken in some places
and it makes small noise when u hold it in your hand, or try to type characters
    can that place be replaced?

what should i do to preserve it in a good condition
what parts should i check, (check how and for what?)
what can i do to make it feel better other than buying a new original keypad and cover and a new battery(which type of battery to get the best talk time)

i need your comments, i will attach pictures to show its condition

it can be seen from the pictures with the broken places i have marked, it has been dropped to ground lots of times, or may be those places were broken whille switching covers (i dont think really) becouse they r at the exact places that case holds the covers, and this makes me uncomfortable becouse the covers moves freely a little and makes noise

    the software is:
    v5.31
    08-03-02
    nsm-3

should i update it? what difference will it make? i think thereis a 5.32 firmware
and i have seen another firmware here with additional features like analog clock and plus, i cant remember that roms name, if anyone can remind me that will be also good, and what about 8210 to 8250?, should i try these firmwares? what is the risk? ( i did not flash any phones but i dont think i will make something wrong )
and if someone can list me what hardware and software do i need to flash this phone ( which data cable and what else? )

    Hey mate,
Yeah they are a nice phone.
But I have seen nicer ones than that... *ouch*.
Well, if it has no problems...
What I would do is keep my eye out for another 8210 in good condition with genuine cover but has no power and/or broken screen (something cheap).
Then just swap over the board/screen.
    Happy restoring.
