hi!
i think that the IMEI has nothing to do with the calculation
of the FAID, because it's possible to change the IMEI without the need of calculation new FAID...can somebody confirm me that?

Hi to all !
For FAID calculation using MSID. Correct me
hi
I think you are right, IMEI has nothing to do with calculating FAID. Are you sure that it is possible to change IMEI without new FAID? How???

some clarifications.
you have some datas.
in:
MSID (Mobile Station Identity)
IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity)
PPM CHECKSUM (which is NONE OF "ppm checksums" displayed/fixed in NFREE! Working on calculation routine)
out:
FAID (Flash Authority Identifier)
IAID (IMEI Authority...)
and having 2 procedures to use.
1. Calc_FAID
In: COBBA ID, PPM CHECKSUM
Out: FAID
There is no particular need for the MSID, except that we can not get out COBBA ID from phone in any other way.
So to get cobba id, do get msid and DECODE it (do not ask how)
2. Calc_IAID
In: COBBA ID, IMEI
Out: IAID
The same with the MSID as it was in the previous procedure.
These output datas are stored in the eeprom.
FAID loggers do get the IMEI only for phone identification, and it has NO OTHER PURPOSE.
They only read MSID and software version and ppm package type (the letter/language pack), and the "calculator" LOOKS UP PPM CHECKSUM from a database for the particular swver/type.
Also loggers' job to put back FAID in EEPROM ("update eeprom").
Summary:
- you CAN NOT CALCULATE FAID WITH LOGGER ONLY
- you CAN NOT DO SUCCESSIVE IMEI CHANGE BY FAID RECALCULATION and
- you CAN NOT CHANGE IMEI IN ANY WAY except if having IAID calculation algorythm...

and please think three times about your problem before mailing me
