Simlock Codes Calculation

Hello to all!

Does somebody has any information about simlock codes calculation from the phone's imei/simlock info ?

I see everybody unlocking their phones with nice software and good looking cables, but I remember that the old 3110 and 8110 phones could be unlocked by just calculating the codes and inserting them on the phone.

Newer phones allow this as well of course, but nobody seems to be looking for the algorithm... Does anybody have any idea about it?

Could it be hard-coded? (so that the flashes that wander around don't contain any sensitive code?)

I think I still have the old dct2 phones algorithm (3110, 8110, etc.) around here somewhere... it should be useful only for educative purposes, because the older phones were much different...
