    IrDA for use with 6510/8310/8910

I have a BAFO BF-120 IrDA adapter that I've been using with older Nokia phones since the Nokia 7110. It works perfectly with the 7110, 8210, 8250, etc. But it doesn't work very well with the newer DCT4 phones. I always get disconnects and Logomanager will give the error "invalid response from phone".

Besides phones, the IrDA adapter works perfectly for transferring files to another IrDA equipped computer, for printing, and for connecting to palmtops.

Any ideas? Or can anyone recommend another USB IrDA adapter that works better with DCT4 phones?

Hmmm.... I had the same problem... I`ve tried a few IrDa-s and NONE of them worked propertly. There is a phone problem.... This phone look fantastic, but it has SO many, many bugs in software.... Pathetic for such a name in mobile technology, NOKIA!

After much fiddling, I managed to get the BAFO BF-120 to work with the DCT4 phones...

According to the docs, I have to install the driver corresponding to the label on the infrared dongle. On my dongle the sticker is 6102F, so I installed the Vishay 6102F driver. But... in order for the infrared dongle to talk to DCT4 phones, I had to change the infrared option in device manager to Vishay 6102E, and reduce the speed to 115200.

The funny thing is, with that setting, it wouldn't connect to the older DCT3 phones! I had to change the transceiver type back to 6102F and speed to 4000000 again.

I was going to test some more when Windows locked up, and when I rebooted a system file was damaged by a bad block. So I've not been able to do anything yet.

Its the window drivers setting, u cant connect it at 400000(default), u have to settlw wif 152000(sorry abt the figures, cos i am not on my pc). As for the driver, use Vishay 6102E. After this, i can use it on my 7210, 6510 etc.

*( If u are on winXP, u can roll back ur driver. Else del the inf file manually, this shd solve it)
