    how to check S40 software version ?

    I want to check my S40 software version but I don't know how. Could somebody please help me ? I don't have cable neither ....

    you have to write: *# 06 # and then arrows.

    Yes that is IMEI, but if you then clik the left arrows under displey you get version

    You must have a Sim Card in the phone and it WILL show the software version, unless you somehow have very old v2.x software (x<

    Thank you. I think they have very old version. I tried with & without SImcard..... One more question, Do you have pinout for S40 cable ? I bought one from Ucables but It didn't work, I don't know that is cable problem or software problem

    One other thing... We forgot to correct the posts by danguba
    and GospoPl

    Be sure you are using the buttons on the SIDE, NOT the FRONT!!

    We haven't seen a s40 in circulation with that old of software for ever so let us know if that works..

    In OUR experience we never were able to get ANY of the aftermarket cables to work.. NOT saying they dont because others have.. Its just such a shoddy phone we opted for the OEM cable because we did A LOT of flash updates for them and didnt want to screw around.

    One key thing seems to be that the cable MUST be a POWERED cable...
    You may also have to pop the battery in and out and unplug the cable and plug it back in WITH ALMOST all the software for it to work sometimes.

    i have not actually use the soft . b`cos of the warning you gave intially.(playing with fire)
    or is it a general advice.

    the software is very reliable...as long as u have a history with phones...and u know how to use it...

    it can unlock, repair, change firmware, languages, upload eeprom, upgrade/downgrade firmware...and many things...

    very easy to use...

    the warning was for those that are not experienced...
