Question Electronics project: soldering keypad contacts

Hi, I'm currently looking to buy a cellular phone that I could control by a C++ program in my computer. Of course, an electronic logical interface is needed and it's already been done and working. All I need to know now is which phone to get for easy soldering on the keypad contacts.

I want to make myself clear: I need to solder two wires for each key directly to the pcb contacts so that my logical interface can leave the contact open or close the contact on demand from my computer c++ program.

The only Nokia phones available in my area are the 3390, 3320 and 5125 and I want to know which one has the easiest soldering abilities. The 5125 has already been suggested to me but I want other opinoins as well because if I ruin the phone it's a lot of money down the drain!

BTW: this project is for school (electrical engineering) and I have NO CHOICE to do it or not, it's imposed.

    Thanks very much

    Interesting project..

Right, well I'm gonna say it doesn't matter (and hedge my bets).

The way I see it, find out which is the one that is gonna sell for the least, and use that one.

As for soldering onto the contacts, well I don't see that as being too difficult, you may need someone to hold the wire while you solder, but apart from that...I don't know which has the biggest phone contact (3320?), but I'd advise the one with the largest contacts.

(BTW, are you buying these phones or already have them, if you're buying them, how much for?)

    Gluck

    Thanks for your answer.

What I certainly want to know is precisely that: Which of these models has the biggest keypad contacts ? I don't see myself disassembling the phone in the store in order to find out

I don't have any phone yet and prices vary between 149 and 199 canadian dollars which is about 110-150 USD. Note that some of these prices include some sort of package deal and some minutes per month.

Just grab hold of a second hand one!!! You going to disassemble it anyway! Try ebay!!!
A friend will bail you out of jail! A true friend will be in the cell with you saying " Shit, we really fucked up this time!!!"
