    what programs installed???

There are programs that just startup with the phone, those programs might take some space...
for example, task manager, smart launcher, sms-counter, call-counter... And i guess many more...
That's why you might not be able to play splinter cell...

i can play splinter cell alredi..but the problem is i cant use opera..they say my ram is only 2000+ cant startup..why is this happening ???? i mean can u please explain to me the ways to free up more ram or other steps?? i only deactivated smart launcher and i dunno which program which takes up ram on startup.. (i deleted the sms n call counter though so i cant figure out which other progs are hoggin the memory..)

    thanx very much ...

i not sure if this will help in ur situation, try holding down the menu button, then a little thingy that shows wat programs are running will appear. try to shut them down by selecting the program and pressing the little C button.

ya ive tried your method..still no use cause no programs are running except the phone.. hehe..
so i think it has sumthing to do with programs which starts up with the phone behind..any idea which programs do that?? seriously i need help cause it seems that im always low on ram..or do u belif that its better if i format the phone??
but if i format the phone will it affect the programs i already installed in my mmc??

    i can't run opera too...
you need 2.5 megs worth of free space to run opera...

wat you can do though, is install everything on your MMC, leave nothing on your phone's memory...

    then try again...
    it'd help...

i tot the 2.5 meg needed is ram not space??????

anyway all the programs ive install are all to the mmc..but each time i install a program..the phone memory seems to take a tiny amount of space..which now adds up to quite an amount considering the amount of games n programs ive installed to the mmc... Sigh..

I thought that ram is different than disk space also. Do our phones work like IPAQ and share the 2???

I also have had problems with opera and the only way I have got it working is to turn smart launcher off then restart my phone, freeing up as much memory as possible. Only then do I have enough ram to run opera.

ya...the 2.5 meg is referring to memory..not space..
but each time u install something..eventhough u install to the mmc,it has a small log or file installed to the phone space, probably a file to redirect the program to access the mmc for the program..ive tried unloading launcher but it does not work, assuming that ive installed a number of apps (even to the mmc).... but wat is the exact free ram when a phone which is empty, to startup??
    because its never ENOUGH!

A fresh phone out of the package has 3.5Mb free on its C: drive
Booting a phone with no resident programs loaded, thus only the phone applet will leave you little more then 3.5Mb free ram.

But this is on my 7650, there could be some 3650 specific functions that consume more memory.

What i would do is regularly reboot the phone, don't load more then 2 resident programs... try task manager or stacker to free up that fragmented ram just before you boot opera.

And when everything fails go for DorisBrowser, as it needs less mem on both harddisk and ram.

No, but it only consumes 1/4 of memory compared to opera...

We could ask bill gates to write a internet explorer, but who wants more functions in a webbrowser then most ppl ever use?

Opera is nice, Netfront is also nice... but i really want to keep mem usage of the web-app to a minimum, so i'll be satisfied with a little less.

    Hi,

I#ve checked my RAM just for INfo:

    I had 3337 free RAM
after Startup before starting any Programm
(only the Switcher to view the free ram)

While runntime my ram has never gone under 2200,
as i can see in my MemStat Statistic..

    Just for Info

    So long...
