Hello
First of all, i remember that here was a extra section for "SIM cloning" but i can't find it anymore... has it been removed? Because i don't like to post in a wrong section!
My questions about this are the following:
Are there SIM's available with 64 kb?
Can i clone my 32k SIM to one with 64k? And does it then really utilize the 64 or just 32 of it?
Do cloned SIM's eventually use lower power than "original" ones?
The reason for this is, i axpect my SIM card to be at fault for a quite quick battery drain in my phone. It is only since 2 months or so that the standby times have rapidly dropped, on an almost new 6610! The talktime is, however, not affected. I now changed the battery to a new one, and still it is the same. With other SIM cards (i have several) this is NOT the case, only with the one that i use every day! If i put that one in another phone (5130) it also "empties" very fast.
Also, is cloning legal? I do not wish to use it for pirate purpose or whatever, only to regain my battery performance and eventually higher memory, which would enable me to save longer names on the SIM. My provider has only this one kind of SIM's, i asked already for a possible "upgrade", they can give me a new one with the same number, but 1) only if i bring a police report that i either lost this one or got it stolen (this is so in Thailand, very strict!) and 2) anyway only the same kind of SIM. They even advised me if i want another one w/o needing to go to the police station to get that report (means hours of waiting plus additional costs) i should clone it, as long as only i use it and not another person uses the original at the same time, no problem
Please advice me someone on the possibilities, or point me to the right section of the forum which i can't find anymore...... Thanks a lot!
