MW 3020 - Locked, UNLOCKED ! Locked again !!!

Was able to unlock this phone with this code:
19880246-40

Worked fine for all sims while it was unlocked.
But then, it was locked again, not too long thereafter. Now I cannot unlock it by entering that code. Gives me the "PayT Lock" screen.

Anyone got a clue what has happened/ what can I do?

Use the 30XXInfineonV2 Software and check the eeprom.
It will tell you what is wrong

I (foolishly!) forgot to mention that I do NOT have a data cable and there's no way I can get one either. And the calculator in that software doesn't seem to be too friendly.

Any ideas on how to proceed now?

Well I can't do that - Like I said before, I do not have a data cable.

Whats really baffled me is how when I was able to unlock the phone earlier, how come it locked again and now it won't unlock!!!

You mean via "Prom" -> "Reading/ Writing", right?

When the prompt says "Index:" I enter 251 and press okay.

Then I get the value "00" and length "1". There is no way I can change the length, so it accepts only 2 characters so I can't enter the string which you gave.

There is the other ">EEZ" option which gives an "ID:" prompt. Entering 251 and okay there allows me to enter that string, but that doesn't seem to have any effect.

As you can see I'm completely new to this

What now?

allready your field is demage....so try whit this (read/write) option but press any other key * or # or arrow up,down,lef,right....any button....
Becouse it is only way!

field 251 = 1 byte length is not good.
Becasue in monitormode you are not able to change the field length.
Note: Switching to EEZ means, that you have to enter the fields in HEX in 6 digits (with leading 00s )
If you enter the fieldnumber other way, maybe you damage another field by accident.

So at the moment i see only one little chance. But i have never tried it. But perhepes it works.
Entering the code means, that the code you entered (in Hex) is written to firld 251. Perhapes this can repair that field.
Try to do this:
Enter Monitormode. And enter the correct unlock code. Then usually field 251 ir rewritten. But i do not know, if this works when this field is damaged.

There's no way I can change the length - tried pressing all keys. The ".." key (top right) allows me to toggle between specifying the field no. and the value itself, but the length remains "read only". So the max. chars I can enter is 2.

EEZ is hex mode alright.. tried "0000FB" (hex for 251) and things proceed exactly as above.
Am not quite sure though what you mean by "Monitormode". (excuse the ignorance!) And the correct unlock code would be "19880246-40" i.e. the code I used to unlock the phone earlier, wouldn't it?
