    No, you would have to replace all of the hardware of the phone. The standards and frequencies are incompatable.

    The phones work on similar frequencies and with a similar principle. If you really were desperate and could rewire and program the phone completely you might be able to do it. But I wouldn't try it.

    Strictly speaking, a GSM phone IS a TDMA phone because that's the air interface chosen for the GSM system.

    However it's not possible to "convert" a GSM phone to TDMA IS-136 and vice-versa, because these two implementations of TDMA are really very different.

    I wouldn't worry about changing over to IS-136 from GSM though. Most IS-136 operators are replacing this system with GSM. Which makes me even more keen on keeping my 3520 just to take up more network "space"!
