7650 as a modem

im using win 98 and irda to try and get my 7650 to act as a modem, ive used the nokia configuration suite to set the setting s but no matter what i do i cant get the "modem" to go any faster than 9600bps can anyone help me?

I have tried this as well and am prety much sure that 9600bps is that fastest the modem on the handset goes. Not to sure weather there is a app that makes it go faster

the settings on the noikia config app go up to 48.8

Remember reading somewhere that the modem in the 7650 is on 9600 baud. the setting on the PC suite is probably there for future expandiblity or summat.

I think its more the GSM network that restricts the speed to 9600 at the mo, don't think it can handle any faster for data calls.

Will it go any faster on bluetooth? If I got both IR and Bluetooth....will there be any significant advantage using bluetooth over IR??
