    Howdy All (new user with valid question)

    OK...I did read the rules so hopefully I won't break too many.

    I just want to say that I love my nokia 3650, after my nokia 9290 screen was cracked and then stolen...the 9290 had a sweet keyboard, but it locked up a lot.

    1. I have the nokia3650, with 128meg simpletech MMC card. When I format the card, I lost about 8 megs...what's up with that.

    2. I have memory issues. It keeps on running out and I have to reboot the phone. My phone is V 2.54 (02-03-2003) NHL-8. To people with higher version. What does the higher version number fix. Is there like a description out there what ver 2.54 has and what ver 3.xx has? That is, what bug did ver 3.xx fix that 2.54 had.

    3. I downloaded a lot of apps from the "yahoo" groups, but I'm having problem with it working on the 3650. Are there specific 3650 groups out there which has Apps that has been tested to work on 3650?

    4. I'm having problem with the nokia suite. When I download images to my computer, the images' time stamp is 5 hours behind. And when I transfered the image back to the phone...the time is correct again. What can I do to fix this bug....or feature

    5. I would like to know how the phone store files and is it safe for me to delete some stuff. I mean I installed some apps, and then find out that it's crappy so I remove it. Are the apps settings still stored on the phone somehow? I use FExplorer and I see stuff in there that I know I removed already. What I want to know is, how can I clean my phone out of the useless files "safely" without having to reset everything and reinstalling everything. With FExplorer I see drive C,D,E,Z drive. It would be nice to have a detail description of what these drive have/does.

    . I just want to say thanks for this group and to everyone out there who make it possible for me to have fun on my nokia 3650...you know who you are, I don't want to break any rules by mentioning any yahoo groups that I've been getting my stuff from. To the guy thats working on the mame emu...good luck. Can't wait to see it.

    About the memory loss, when they say 128 MB they mean 128000 KB. 1 MB=1024 KB. 128000 * 1024 = 125 MB < 128. That's why you have less memory than what is written on the MMC.

    Of caurse you can uninstall an application when you don;t like but you have to be carefull. If the application is loaded when you delete it the phone won;t be able to write letters any more only numbers. It;s a common problem of Series 60 phones.

    1.) it's normal for a card to show up as 122mb instead of 128mb. If you look, the 16mb card will show up as 15mb.

    1024 Bytes = 1 Kb
    1024Kb = 1mb

    so by means of doing some mathy stuff,

    1mb = 1048576 Bytes

    1Mb (by manufactures logic)
    is equal to
    1.048576 actual

    So your "128 Mb" Memory card that you bought is actually:

    "128MB" / 1.048576

    which gives you a grand total of

    122.07031 Mb.

    The bigger the memory, the more you will loose. I lost 10 Gigs of my computer's hard drive.

    2.) Upgrading your firmware only removes small bugs and glitches in the previous version. People that encounter problems will email nokia and then they can sort it out.
    As for running out of memory, your phone has around 3.5mb RAM. Every application uses RAM. You should download APPMan (so you can see how much RAM you have and choose to close hidden applications and compress RAM.) and System Tools (there's an option for flight mode, so you can use your phone without sim card. THis gives you all the functions of the phone, apart from the actual telephone function. This will free up around 2mb RAM. Get both from my YAhoo! group.

    3.) Not really. Most apps for 7650 will work on 3650, because they use the same operating system and there are only minor differences. If you have trouble installing an app or game, then try copying it to your phone or memory card, then using a file manager to launch the file on your file.

    4.) Is the time on your computer set correctly? When you connect via bluetooth and open pc suite, the time on your phone is automatically synchronised with your computer.

    5.) You can store stuff on C, D and E drives.

    C drive is your phone memory.
    E drive is your memory card.

    D drive, I'm not sure about, but a lot of 7650 owners use this drive for an extra half megabyte of space.

    Z drive is ROM (read only memory). This is where the operating system is installed and you cannot store stuff here or edit any files.
