6100 - Data cable connected = faded bright screen

I've just got a data cable for my 6100 but when I connect it the screen turns white, as if the brightness has been turned up loads.
When I disconnect the cable the phone returns to normal.

Ive tried using Nokia Data Suite to connect the phone but it does not recognise it.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

...dont know about that screen, but pc suite doesnt work
with a serial cable. you have to use the dku-5 cable which
plugs into the usb ports of your pc. or to use the serial
cable, you have to use software like mobimb or oxygen
phone manager.
